No Offense, but...

Over the last month or so our family has visited each of the four areas where I've lived: NYC, Boston, San Fran, and Provo. Each area has things I love, and some things I would change if I ran the world (I rarely mention running the world lately).

After an evening of singing some Jason Mraz with the girls, I was thinking I like this guy and he is clearly from California. Then I started thinking about why it is that I can tell that he is from California. In the more wester places I've been, people are just happier and way funnier. Maybe it's the cold, a culture of wanting to feel important, or tight quarters, but in Boston and NYC there is more concern with being offended and offending.

I think we need more reggae music (preferably with lyrics I can't understand). And funny people.

Camy Trailblazes

The girls received a tunnel for Christmas. Because we were travelingc, it did not arrive until today. It took a second for Macy to warm up to it again, but once she saw Camy barrel through, she was quick to follow.

A Public Service Announcement

These are twins drinking milk - about 13 minutes before they are done.

These are twins drinking chocolate* milk - 5 minutes.

Any questions?

*if you consider carnation instant breakfast "chocolate".

A recent, but age-old problem

Watch this. (Jump to 1:35 if you are short on time).

Then watch this:

Compare and contrast.

When Macy was younger, you could put her down in one place on the floor, come back, and she would still be there. That was nice. She will be wearing her snow suit more often going forward.

Trouble is brewing already

In the last few weeks changes have come quickly. Walking has become Macy's preferred means of transportation. She has started to put things on - a particular liking for purses (which is odd, since neither Edna or I really use any type of handbag). And as these photos show, she has started to talk on her calculator:

I thought I had at least another 18 months before behavior like this came along. I can already hear it: "Hey dad, for only $90 more per month, we can get unlimited minutes and texting; that's a great deal isn't it?"

Uhg.
